I've been visiting schools, libraries and book festivals since 2008, talking to children about books, reading, writing, and everything in between. My performance explores my childhood inspirations and aspirations, and includes animated readings from my books, anecdotes, poetry, pictures and writing tips.

"The visit from Guy Bass was one of the greatest days at the school… he left the children feeling truly inspired to read and to write. His presentation to the children was fantastic. He then spent 3 hours signing and illustrating every book… with humour and a smile on his face. It was a truly excellent day for the school and worth every single penny. In the words of the children, "He was awesome!"

James Malone, Teacher, Hampton Junior School

"I can't recommend Guy highly enough. Our pupils loved him... His presentation was both incredibly funny and inspiring, and the increased enthusiasm for reading and writing in the weeks after his visit was very apparent. His professionalism, friendliness and flexibility made the visit an absolute pleasure for the staff as well. Thank you for such a fun afternoon!"

Joe Shepherd, Edgewick Primary

"We had an absolutely amazing morning with Guy. The children and staff chuckled and smiled about the event for the rest of our Book Week. Guy made it very special by spending time with each child during the signing, which we really appreciated.”

Carole Pugh, Merdon Junior School

"Thank you for a brilliant day that you shared with us. Your performances were outstanding and your connection with the children was amazing. We had great outcomes with children, especially those hard to reach groups that often find it difficult to engage with books."

Jeanette Kemp, Windsor Libraries

"The joy of reading seems ever more joyous when Guy rolls into a school and unleashes his own special brand of reading motivation. Portsmouth School Library Service is delighted to have worked with Guy on more than ten different events in the past two years."

Peter Bone, Library Services Manager, Portsmouth Libraries

"An enormous 'thank you' to Guy from us all for taking part in the ReadingZone Festival. His event was wonderful and the children were really buzzing afterwards, and we're getting some great feedback from the schools that took part."

Caroline Horn, ReadingZone

"Guy Bass was a fantastic part of the Oundle Festival of Literature's 2020 Kid Lit line-up. Schools described him as 'absolutely brilliant, very funny and gave an engaging performance'. I wouldn't hesitate to book him again."

Helen Shair, Festival Director

"Thanks for another fantastic day of events! Guy has become a firm
favourite. Guy's events and books both appeal to and entertain across KS2. We would heartily recommend Guy to anyone considering booking an author event for their school, or indeed any group of children!”

Hannah Plom, Hampshire Schools Library Service

"The children were ecstatic following your visit. It really was such an enjoyable experience, with a personable insight into the mind of a celebrated author. You certainly made everyone laugh and smile! The whole event was fabulous and both myself and the rest of the school are truly grateful.”

Michelle Holland-Washington, Gatten & Lake Primary School

"Our children loved Guy's talk. They were rolling around laughing one minute and listening enthralled the next. Our children were y2-y6 and all got a lot out of it."
Anja Tyler, Beninton Primary School

"Guy Bass was an absolutely awesome addition to our virtual World Book Week celebrations this year. His personality literally oozed through the screen and our students remained fully engaged and in hysterical fits of laugher from start to finish. If your aim is to inspire your students and create a buzz for reading, I would definitely recommend booking him – you would not be disappointed! Guy’s school sessions are phenomenal, engaging and out right hilarious."
